ABOUT ME

my work, and the world that inspires me

I am Senior Character Artist based out of California.

I am most passionate about organic forms and as such my primary area of focus are characters, and creature designs for VFX, films, animation and games.

I am currently working in the game industry, with experience in both high-poly and low-poly asset production. Previously, I have worked as a 3D modeler and texture artist for the world renowned animation studio Laika, having contributed to the double Oscar nominated film Kubo and the Two Strings (2016).

High-resolution assets utilizing Maya, Zbrush and Modo with an emphasis on clean animation friendly topology.

3D Modeling for Games / VR

Low-poly assets based off high-poly models optimized for mobile and next generation console devices.

3D Sculpting for 3D Printing / Toys

High-resolution sculpts tailor made for various types of 3D printing and toy fabrication process.

Texturing

Projection-based, procedural and hand-painted texture utilizing Zbrush, Mari, Painter, Designer, Modo and Maya.

Look Development

Shading and look-dev using Modo, Arnold, Redshift, and V-ray in Maya.

Texture Baking for Games

Bake various texture maps needed for low-poly assets such as diffuse, normal, sss, cavity maps, etc.

Featured artwork and interviews

Featured Ustaad Bheem Shing artwork in the March 2021 issue on 3DWorld Magazine. I share a brief overview of my process and workflow. The interview can be found in both digital and print format.
